Peanut Butter Recall

As the recall of peanut butter products continues to expand,
access to timely information becomes a priority.
By clicking on the FDA logo below, you will be directed to the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration's main page concerning Peanut Butter Product Recalls
(Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak)
A Listing of peanut butter/peanut paste containing products currently under recall, which are known
to be distributed in Missouri is available. The FDA has created a searchable list of products and brands
associated with this expanded recall. This list is available on the FDA website at:
http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm and will be updated
on a regular basis as additional sub recalls occur and information is received by FDA
from the industry. The list includes cookies, candies, ice cream, snack crackers,
peanut butter, peanut paste, fruit and vegetable snacks, snack bars and pet food paste.
There is a search engine on the page you may use for searching by product name or by UPC code.
Peanuut Corporation of America (PCA) has expanded the recallof products produced and processed in their Blakely, Georgia plant to extend back to January 1, 2007. The recall now also includes products other than peanut butter and peanut butter paste. The recall now includes raw and oil-roasted peanuts, peanut meal and peanut granules. This will expand recalls on other products and cause new products to be added to the growing list of products already under recall. The FDA has determined that PCA distributed potentially contaminated product to more than 100 consignee firms, for use as an ingredient in hundreds of different products, such as cookies, crackers, cereal, candy and ice cream. If it is unclear if a product is under recall, it is wise to contact the company through the "800" number on the package and inquire as to its inclusion among recalled products.
The FDA has a searchable database on its website that lists peanut containing products currently under recall: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm
The following website contains companies who have listed their products that
ARE NOT under recall that may be helpful:

The safest advice is not to consume a product containing peanut butter or peanut paste, peanut granules, and peanut meal if consumers cannot determine if their peanut products may contain peanut ingredients from PCA.
IF you or someone you know reports of illness associated with a product, report the illness. Contact a physician, your local communicable disease investigator, local public health agency, local health department, or the MO Department of Health and Senior Services.
