Environmental Health Department

St. Francois County Health Center's Environmental Health
Department
contracts with the Missouri Department of Health and
Senior Services to protect the health and welfare of the public.

Environmental Public Health Specialists
conduct sanitation inspections of food establishments, child care facilities, lodinging facilities, and school cafeterias.  Institutional facilities
are inspected by request.


Environmental Public Health Specialists
respond to incidents in which food, drugs or cosmetics may have been
compromised due to transportation accidents, fires, flooding, power outages, natural or man-made disasters.
Investigations are conducted in response to these
disasters to determine if
foods have retained appropriate temperature controls and have not been contaminated, adulterated or compromised in such a manner as to render them
unfit for human consumption.

Environmental Public Health Specialists are actively involved in the
sanitation inspection of food establishments, child care facilities,
lodging facilities, and school cafeterias.

Environmental Public Health Specialists
respond to environmental complaints
and to
on-site sewage complaints, failed on-site sewage systems and
illegal on-site sewage system installations.

The Environmental Health Department is responsible for the
issuance of construction permits for the installation and repair
of on-site waste treatment systems.
