Retail Food Establishment Inspection Program

St. Francois County Health Center regulates the food-service program through a contractual arrangement with the Missouri Department of Health
and Senior Services.  These establishments are inspected
under 196.190-196.265 RSMo, 10 CSR 20-1.025,
"Sanitation of Food Establishments" ;
otherwise known as the "1999 Missouri Food Code".

The primary goal of the inspection program is to decrease the potential of a food-borne or water-borne disease outbreak occuring in St. Francois County.  Other goals include the education of food workers, employers, and food establishment owners and to help ensure compliance with State sanitation requirements.

Retail Food Protection Program

St. Francois County Health Center is responsible for conducting sanitation inspections for retail food establishments (grocery stores, convenience stores, etc) within St. Francois County.  These establishments are inspected under the 1999 Missouri Food Code.
- Inspection Intervals-
High Priority establishments are inspected every 6 months
Medium Priority establishments are inspected every 9 months
Low Priority establishments are inspected every 12 months

Emergency Response Related To Food

St. Francois County Health Center Environmental Public Health Specialists respond to incidents in which food, drugs or cosmetics may have been compromised due to transportation accidents, fires, flooding, power outages, natural or man-made disasters.

To report an emergency after 4:00PM, call 573-431-1947, ext 5.  Your emergency will be forwarded to the appropriate department personnel.

To report an accident, flood damage, fire damage, or damage from other natural disasters involving food, contact SFCHC at 573-431-1947

Other agencies to notify: Local 911 operator, local Police Department, Sheriff's Department,
local Fire Department, MO Highway Patrol

Food Borne Illness Outbreaks

If a food-borne illness outbreak occurs, Environmental Public Health Specialist and the Communicable Disease nurse of St. Francois County Health Center would comprise key elements in the Department of Health & Senior Services' epidemiology team, attempting to identify the specific source(s) of the outbreak.

 Inspection reports are scheduled to be available on-line
beginning in the winter of 2012
