Food Establishments

A Food Establishment is defined as an operation that stores, prepares, packages, serves, vends, or otherwise provides FOOD for human consumption.

Food Establishments in St. Francois County which are inspected routinely
by the St.Francois County Health Center, as per State contracts with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services,
includes these establishment types:

 Bakery

Grocery

School 

Lodging 

C - Store

 Institution

 Senior Center

 Temporary Food

Caterer 

 Mobile Food

 Summer F.P.

 Mobile Food

 Deli

 Restaurant

 Tavern

Child Day Care 

 Inspections are conducted based upon the standards set forth by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Sanitation and Safety Standards for Lodging Establishments (19 CSR 20-1.025).  To view the Missouri Statutes and rules contained within this document, click on the "document cover' above.  By clicking on the blue book cover, you can view the 1999 Missouri Food Code.

The time period between inspection is not the same for all food establishments.  Food establishments are prioritized based upon the establishment's use of/serving of potentially hazardous foods.  Priority levels are established as; high, medium or low.

  • A low priority establishment would be inspected at least once every 18 months
  • A medium priority establishment would be inspected at least once every 12 months
  • A high priority establishment would be inspected at least once every 9 months
